Function of it's active ingredient-Escin:
Escin is a saponin extract from the Horse Chestnut Tree, in particular, the seeds. It is also knownw as Esculin, Escin, and Rosskastanie. Aescin acts as an astringent, vasoconstrictor, and anti-inflammatory activities.
It is commonly used in skin treatments, especially those targeted towards spider veins and varicose veins. Aescin helps to boost circulation and improve vein health.
Aescin is often found in ointments, gels, creams, or oral medications to help boost skin health.
Treat Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI). Details as: Varicose Veins, Pain, Ankle Swelling, Feelings of Heaviness, Itching, and Nighttime Leg Cramping.
Treat Hemorrhoids.

Horse chestnut seeds have been employed in the treatment of rheumatism and neuralgia and also in rectal complaints and for hemorrhoids. In France, an oil extracted from the horse chestnut seeds has been used externally for rheumatism.
