Physical Properties:
Monoclinic or hexagonal white crystal or crystalline powder, odorless, and tastes sweet, Freely soluble in water, slightly soluble in methanol, and practically insoluble in acetone and ether. Its melting range is 232-236° C.

The characteristics and usage
Technical Grade
Used as a solvent for removing C02 in the fertilizer industry; An additive to the plating solution; A pH regulator; An intermediate of pesticides, e. G. A important raw material for herbicide glyphosate;
Feed Grade
Used as an inductor in feed additives.

Food Grade
(1)Used as a flavoring or sweetener in order to improve the flavor and taste of food, to retain its original color and to provide a source of sweet; In combination with DL-alanine or citron acid; Used as a acid corrector or buffer for the composition of wine and soft beverage; Used as an additive for the making of salted vegetables, sweet jams, vinegar and fruit juice, because glycine can play a buffering role in the taste-of edible salt and vinegar for its amino and carboxyl having strong buffering effects; Or used as sweetener alone.
(2)Used as an antiseptic agent for fish flakes, peanut jams and tofu products to inhibit the reproduction of bacillus subtilis and E. Coli;

Pharm. Grade
(1)Used in the research on the metabolism of amino acids by medical organisms or on a biochemical basis;

(2)Used as a buffer for Aureomycin, as a raw material for synthesizing L-dopa for treating Parkinson's disease threonine; Vitamin B6, and other amino acids such as threonine.

(3)Used in amino acid injection solution as nutritional infusion for the patients who have digestive malfunction, or long consumptive diseases, and urgently need nutritional supplement including those who have gastrectomy, severe traumatic infection, severe burns, or liver-kidney failure as well as the need of a nutritional supplement before or after surgical operations.

(4)Used as a supplemental medicine to treat myasthenia progressive and pseudo hypertrophic muscular dystrophy.

(5)The solution containing 30% glycine and 70% medical calcium carbonate can be taken orally to treat neural hyperchlorhydria and gastric ulcer hyperchlorhydria.

(6)Mainly used as the raw material for cephalosporin, the intermediate for thiamphenicol and imidazole acetic acid and etc.

(7)Used as the raw material for cosmetic.
