Daidzein has estrogenic activity. Daidzein may have antioxidant activity. It may also have antidipsotropic, anticarcinogenic, anti-atherogenic and anti-osteoporotic activity.

Daidzein, like the other soy isoflavones, may have some anticancer and anti-atherogenic effects. It may also help to suppress "hot flashes" in some menopausal women and may help prevent osteoporosis. Preliminary animal work suggests that it might help curb ethanol intake in those who are alcohol-dependent.
